South Bend’s Last Hurrah for College Football Hall of Fame

trivia challengeSouth Bend, IN–Circle down the spiralling ramp into the College Football Hall of Fame where football legends prevail.  But hurry, because this top-notch museum in South Bend, is going to move within a year, though it won’t likely silence the critics who complained for more than ten years about the city’s subsidies of the museum and building.

I’m not much of a football fan, but I do know a good museum when I see it.  Lots of great memorabilia, football history, stories, and legends appeal to people like my mom– who favors the Army team of the 1940s–as well as to my nephew, who’s more in tune with Notre Dame this year.  The museum moved here from Ohio to draw on the ND football fanatics but the crowds didn’t keep coming after the first year.  By 2012, it will find a new home in Atlanta.

All the more reason to visit the College Football Hall of Fame now, before it closes for at least a couple of years.  Test your memory against other players on Jeopardy-style trivia games ,  see how good a coach or player you might be with interactive strategy videos, and see how you match up against the big boys in flexibility, reach, and strength stations.  You can even toss a football or two.  Even I enjoyed learning about the evolution of the football and the development of Gatorade.

And if you always wanted to be a cheerleader, get your photo snapped in the marching band section where cutouts let you play a leading role.  Rah, rah!  Game over, good game.Big drumoverview football hall of fame
